CLS News Introduction
Hydrogen energy is a zero-carbon clean energy carrier hailed as the "ultimate energy source of the 21st century." It is of great significance for China to build a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient energy system and achieve the "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality" goals. The 2022 Medium and Long-Term Plan for the Development of the Hydrogen Energy Industry (2021-2035) clearly defines hydrogen’s energy attribute as part of the future national energy system and a key direction of China’s strategic emerging industries.
The Laboratory of Low-Carbon Energy and Optoelectronic Sensing focuses on energy carbon neutrality, with hydrogen and ammonia-hydrogen new energy as core areas. It conducts basic hydrogen energy research and its applications in power systems, clean electricity and advanced manufacturing, integrating optoelectronic sensing and AI to contribute to national strategic goals.
Home to over 30 doctoral and master’s students, the laboratory’s graduates have won National Scholarship and other honors. They pursue careers at top universities (e.g., CUHK, HK PolyU, SJTU) and leading enterprises (e.g., SMEE, UAES, Huawei, Dongfeng Motor), enjoying broad prospects in academia and industry.
