Professor Yu Wang, as the first author and corresponding author, published a long review paper entitled "Soot formation in laminar counterflow flame" in the top international journal Progress in Energy and Combustion Science (impact Factor 26.467). He systematically expounded the physical and chemical mechanism of soot particles produced by hydrocarbon fuel during combustion. The effects of fuel types, fuel additives, combustion temperature, pressure and flow field on soot formation and oxidation in laminar flame are analyzed, and the key research directions of soot in the future are prospected. The co-author of the paper is Professor Suk Ho Chung, founding director of KAUST Combustion Center in Saudi Arabia and academician of the Korean Academy of Engineering.
