The "2025 Symposium on Basic Research in Energy Power and Engineering Thermophysics"—sponsored by the Division of Engineering Thermophysics and Energy Utilization, Department of Engineering and Materials Sciences, National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and hosted by Inner Mongolia University of Technology—was held in Hohhot. Approximately 650 principal investigators of NSFC projects from over 170 universities and research institutions nationwide attended the symposium. During the event, more than 500 project principal investigators delivered progress reports on completed projects in parallel sessions, sharing their experiences and insights in basic research. In-depth discussions were conducted on key topics such as accurately refining critical scientific issues, effectively conducting basic research, and promoting the transformation and implementation of research outcomes.
At the parallel session, Associate Professor Liuhao Ma from the Laboratory presented a progress report on his NSFC Young Scientists Fund Project (Category C) entitled "Research on Combustion Diagnostic Methods Based on Cross-Spectral Band Laser Absorption-Induced Dispersion Spectroscopy" (Approval No.: 52106221), which was completed in 2024. Based on the evaluation by participating project principal investigators, the project received an overall rating of "Excellent" upon completion.
Associate Professor Liuhao Ma has long been engaged in basic theoretical and applied basic research on novel combustion diagnostic methods based on two types of spectral technologies: traditional laser absorption spectroscopy and emerging laser dispersion spectroscopy. Additionally, his research focuses on applied technology development for high-temperature gas sensing in complex and harsh on-site environments.
